Much of haiku is done in and about nature. One can take a break and go for a haiku walk. This can be a time to clear the head and just focus on things around. Such as the squirrel scampering across the street, a man walking a dog, a cat watching, a tree with a broken branch or a daisy like the one I spotted on the way to work one day.
Five white petals
daisy on a patch of grass
ants too
Or look out the window of a bedroom or a kitchen.
rosebud on water
swallow in the bird bath
together
A haiku can be written from a memory, such as this one:
under sea
a ship in the sand
plate on a table
Unless otherwise noted, the haiku in this guide are the work of the author.
