WHAT Is Photography?
According to the Tate (London), "Photography refers to the process or practice of creating a photograph – an image produced by the action of light on a light-sensitive material." Digital photography creates stored graphic images (JPEG, TIFF or RAW), which can be processed and printed.
Photography is both an art and a science. As art is provides a visualization of artistic expression; as a science it relies on technique and technology to manipulate light to produce an image. It requires the photographer -- artist -- to have imagination and creative vision along with technical skills in exposure, composition, and processing.
