Billie Holliday

Billie Holiday (1915-1959) is considered to be one of the most influential jazz singers of all time. Her autobiography was made into the 1972 film Lady Sings the Blues. She was discovered by John Hammond around 1933 when she was signing in a Harlem jazz club, and continued to perform until her death in 1959.
