March is Women's History Month, celebrating the achievements and struggles of women.

Janis Joplin

Janis Joplin (1943-1970), called the First Lady of Rock and Roll, was best known for her raw emotion and blues vocals. Some of her most recognized songs include "Ball and Chain," "Piece of My Heart," "Summertime," and "Me and Bobby McGee." She died of an accidental overdose in August, 1970.
