Pride Month: Bayard Rustin

Introduction

Bayard Taylor Rustin (1912-1987), was a leading figure in the Civil rights, nonviolence, and Gay Rights movements in America during the 1960s and beyond until his death in 1987. While often working behind the scenes, he is credited as being one of the primary organizers of the March on Washington in 1963, which was one of the largest political rallies in history.
