Sports = Big Business = Big Money. CNBC reports that Americans spent $56 billion dollars to attend sporting events in 2017, including the cost of tickets, transportation, lodging and food and drink. The North American sports market is estimated to be worth more than $67.29 billion U.S. dollars with an expected rise to $78.53 billion by 2021. Youth sports is a $15 billion industry in the U.S., and many families spend upwards of $12,000 per year in youth athletic participation. Add to this the Fantasy Sports market comprised of 59.3 million people in the U.S. and Canada who each spend an average of $556 annually on league-related costs and materials and single player challenges.
This guide provides resources and links to learn about individual sports. While the primary focus is sports in the US, there are resources covering international sports.
